Wreckage

Our church secretary was in a car accident last Friday. A fella pulled out onto the highway in front of her and, well... you can see her car for yourself.
Her injuries: broken right heel, broken right rib, 4 inch laceration above her right eye, lacerations on the back of her head, broken left arm, laceration below her left knee, bruising & small cuts. The other guy just had minor injuries. She was taken to a Wichita hospital & is moving to rehab sometime this week.

And stoopid me - I called & left her a voicemail on Saturday wondering where the layout of PowerPoint announcements I needed was at. Yeah, brilliant I know.

The Three Forms of Chocolate

Sunday at lunch we got into a discussion about the different forms of chocolate - solid, liquid and gas. Now, we've never seen gaseous chocolate, so Nic & H came up with the truly brilliant plan to use chemistry students at the schools they work in to figure out how to make it happen. They could market it as a nasal spray, in aerosol cans or in candy bars that would release like the Hall's cough drops. (A fella in the group who just happens to be an engineer started having the vapors over vaporizing chocolate. Hee hee)

Anyway, as we were leaving, several friends said they would much rather have a serious discussion than a completely illogical one like the chocolate one. They didn't seem too put out while all the laughing was going on, in fact as I recall they were laughing too.

Life can't always be deep theological or doctrinal lectures. Even God, especially God, has a sense of humor. You think he doesn't - go take a look in the mirror. Now that right there is some funny stuff. The platypus - one darn goofy-lookin' animal. The things kids say & do - downright hilarious. As Ken Davis puts it, God doesn't look down and say "Look - my people are having fun. NO!" and stomp us into oblivion. He's probably going "Hey angels - come look at what this guy did!" and laughs.

"Practice Date"

I have a confession to make.

I am 27 years old and have never been on a real date. But, last Saturday night, I got to go on a "practice date" with a good friend. This was with the understanding that it was just as friends.

We had a good time. Saw Hoodwinked - very cute - and then ate at the Macaroni Grill. I had been kinda worried that I would either clam up or get a little giggly & goofy, as I sometimes do when nervous. Neither happened. We talked most of the evening about showing animals in 4H, the AWANA camp it turns out we both went to growing up, what we always wanted to be/do when we grew up, his college room mate who had been charged with murder, etc.

It was a lot of fun and I got the opportunity to better know a friend that I've had for the last year.

M&Ms

Bridget & I were discussing M&Ms. I mentioned that when eating them I sometimes sort them into color and make sure there is the same number of each. I then eat the greens first, followed by yellow, blue, orange, red & brown. The look I got from Bridget... ;D
