The Firing Range...

Since the hobbits are here & it's slightly impossible to study, I'll post a few pictures from an afternoon at the range. As you can see, we kinda need to hit the whole area with a bush cutter. I think Viking Dad is planning on burning it all off once the majority of the weeds are dead.
Flanders, Ramone & Jer...
Ramone's turn - the backstop-thingie also needs to be replaced. And they used metal posts to support it!
My cousin Jay, Beetlebomb, Elf & Lil'Un's dad...
Flanders firing...
Jer's turn...

I got to play some too, but as it's my camera there are no pics of me. (Count your blessings... :grin:)

Bwahahaha!

I have a new nickname that I absolutely love! But first, a little back story...

I have had several switchblades throughout the years, some bought on missions trips in Mexico & one purchased from my job partner at Cessna. I thought they were all lost until the parental units & I were cleaning some stuff out of the garage a month or so ago. I found one of them & was so excited that I carreid it with me everywhere for a while. I also had to show it to my friends at work, mostly for the reactions that I get. ;-P

Anyway, I was at work the other night & one of the supervisors was getting ready to go home. He stopped by the office & said "Hey, Switchblade Sally." Hehe. I think it's my favourite of all my nicknames. Maybe I can set it to some Wilson Pickett... "Switchblade Sally, think you better put your switchblade down..."

Success!

Ah-Ha! I am victorious over the Intertubes at last! (This time, anyway...)

I finally managed to get the wireless 'net to work at the local coffee shop, so I can upload pictures off of Vickie, my little laptop. So y'all get to look at some of my pictures from the visit to Flanders & Belle's...

Flanders playing with my bow as Bobo looks on. You can see another arrow down at the bottom of the pic - Little Man & Bobo liked to use the arrows as swords.
Belle with a sick little Sugar Plum, also the donor of the virus that I just had. :)
The pink blur is from the first version of the camera. I had to delete over half the pictures I took due to the pink bleeding in the middle. Took it back, got a new one & it's all better now.
Had some lovely views of distant rain on the trip home.
And some lovely sun streamers as well.

~~~~~
The church had it's 20th anniversary party on Sunday & I took the bow. I ended up with a small gaggle of kids who all wanted a shot at it. They all had a blast. The tiniest one was 2/3rds the size of the bow, so it sat on the ground as I helped her pull it back a few inches to shoot at the target that was all of 3 feet away. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone available to take pictures. :(
Knives & Jewelry...
...What more can a girl ask for?
So, I'm having this jewelry party tonight. While I'm there, I'll be wearing a pretty little spoon-handle ring, a bracelet with teacup charms & a sparkly necklace. Ooh, can't forget the earrings. In my pocket, I will have my little Leatherman. And in & on my pretty, sparkly purse, will (as always) be this & these.
Heh. I can just feel the lecture coming my way from The Mothership...
More Guns Please
I am getting sick & tired of seeing those "No Guns Allowed" signs every time I turn around.
I can understand what they are trying to achieve, but the method just doesn't make sense. I don't think a goblin is going to go to a store, see the amazing sticker on the door & go "Oh no! They have a sticker! I guess I can't rob this place!" Sorry, but that ain't gonna make a bad guy turn around & leave. All it does it keep out the honest citizens who are practicing their lawful right to carry. The only folks who would have a chance of stopping the evil-doer.
If I owned a business, my sign would say:
"You are more than welcome to concealed carry here. Just remember that we do too."
And I'd make sure that all my employees knew how to handle the guns we had on hand.
Extra! Extra! Get Your Kalashnikitty T-shirts Now!
This is your one & only shot to order a Kalashnikitty t-shirt. Greywolf is doing a final batch. Any of my so-called family members who are interested in one, let me know. I'm ordering one for Peanut & one for myself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This email goes out to all those who have ordered Kalashnikitty shirts from me in the past or who have emailed me about how to get them. I have gotten a lot of emails in the past few months about people wanting Kalashnikitty shirts and have decided to do up another run. Since I first starting doing these 3 years ago, I have not had to change the pricing, even though every year my costs have gone up. For this one last time, I will keep the prices at what they were. One of the main reasons I was going to have to change the pricing was due to the fact that I can no longer advertise these shirts (or post at all for that matter) on ar15.com, where about 40% of my orders came from. So, this is the last time I can do this.

Here's the procedure for getting the shirts (this makes it a LOT easier for me to track and ship these things ASAP)

Email me (
grey2112 ) - @ - ( tampabay.rr.com ) with the following:

Number and sizes you want - sizes are Child's Medium, Child's Large, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large, Adult XL, Adult 2XL, and Adult 3XL. Sorry, ladies - no "baby-doll" tees - just too expensive to retool for the shirt-maker.

Only one color - a light ash grey (very nice) - shirts are high-quality, do not fade or shrink, long lasting, very soft. Image is screen printed, NOT iron on or transfers.

Any size up to XL is $20, 2XL is $21.50 and 3XL is $22.00

Shipping via 2-3 day Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation is $5.00 for 1-2 shirts, and an extra $2.50 per shirt after that.
Check, MO, or Paypal is good for payments. If using Paypal, add 4% to the total payment, including the shipping.
***When you email me your order, include your full name and mailing address. I will email you back with the total.
Taking orders until November 12th (Sunday night), and then the estimated ship date of the shirts will be the first week of December - usually it takes about 3 weeks from the end of order-taking until the shirts start to ship.
Below are some pictures of the graphic (that one's above ~ LG) and various people wearing them. Thanks again to everyone and spread the word!

Sweetness

I was flipping channels last night & stumbled across Standoff. They were going in to take down some evildoers & the good guys had CornerShots. Man, those things are flippin' sweet! Dad & I ran across a show on cable while we were on vacation that demonstrated what these babies can do. We were both practically drooling.

The CornerShot 40 grenade launcher is especially amazing. I would love to play with one 'a them. Mmm.. things that go boom...

By the way, did I ever mention that Ramone, at age 12 or so, named his kittens Arnold Schwartzenegger (later discovered to be a momma cat), Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher and I think there was one other similarly named....

Update: I remember now! The last one was Rocket Launcher!

Warrior Princesses

I have a question for all you fellas out there.

I was reading a book yesterday and came across this sentence: No respectable knight would try to rescue a princess who was wearing armor. (Or something to that effect.)

Mom has told me that I have probably scared some guys away with all my talk of guns, knives, helping butcher animals, all the tom-boyish stuff. I have even had friends, male and female, tell me that I can be a little scary. They were partly joking. On my last vacation, my older brother & I were going to do a little shooting, but the nephews were asleep, so we practiced throwing his machete.
Flanders - That black blur in the center is the machete.
My uncle told me last time I saw him that I was always one of the toughest kids he knew. Part of that was feeling I had to keep up with the guys when we were working on the farm (I didn't do a whole lot, other than the sheep) and so I would do more. I have a tendency to be a workaholic and have burned out 3 or 4 times in the past 6 or so years.
I guess what I'm trying to say is - is that true? Do men steer clear of women who are self-sufficient, independent and sometimes a wee bit scary?
By the way - I'm not trying to hook a man here. I just was wondering & thought I'd ask y'all.

Tom-boyish Girly-Girl

The Mothership routinely has a 'talk' with me on my apparent obsession with guns. She's worried that a certain guy (that I would date in a heartbeat were he to ever ask me) will read this here blog & freak out & therefore never make a move.

I don't think I'm obsessed with guns & knives, I just like them a lot. I think they're fun & useful and I've almost always carried a pocketknife (or switchblade) with me - to work, to school, around running errands & sometimes even to church (if I'm wearing jeans instead of a dress). I've even saved lives with my knives - horsey lives, but lives nonetheless.

Mom is a very girlie-girl, very feminine and I can't picture her with a gun or knife in her hands. I'm still shocked that she rode ol'
Pebbles once on the farm. She loves pink and dolls and ruffles and lace. I hated pink for years after making the foolish mistake of painting my bedroom pink & choosing pink carpet when I was 12.

I grew up as a bit of a tomboy. I had the horses & I was smack in between 2 boys in the birth order. I never dated growing up, partly because I could beat all the guys I knew arm-wrestling. I mean, come on, who really wants to date a guy you're capable of beating up?

I've softened up some since then. My entry-way is painted pink - a darker pink though. I love the
shabby-chic look and Victorian houses. I go to tea parties but I also want to go to sniper school and drag-race a 'Hemi 'Cuda.

Mom & I were discussing this while decorating for the tea and I said I would be perfectly comfortable going to a tea room wearing a nice dress and concealed-carrying a .45.

Heh. That got a look.

Unconcealed Weapons

My fingernails had begun chipping and splitting, so I started taking a Biotin supplement.

Wow.

These things are so hard that I'm going to have to be careful that I don't stab anyone with 'em.

On a (somewhat) related note, Kansas is trying to get a concealed carry law passed. Woo-hoo! Only problem is, Sebelius says she's going to veto it again. Dave at work said that it passed by a large enough margin that they can overturn her veto, though. (I really need to read up on it all, but haven't the time right now.)

One more thing -
YAY GUNS & KNIVES!

(Boy, them Desert Eagles shore are purdy...)

Vintage-y Pictures

Anne & I had these done one year at the State Fair. We did the proper Victorian ladies look first and then we asked for a small costume change.

Anne is on the left & I'm the one on the right. Anne's brother-in-law said it's scary how natural I look with a gun in my hands.

Perfume & Gunpowder

I was getting ready to go out shooting with the guys on Saturday and put on my Givenchy perfume. Don't know why I did that.

Bridget said that's probably why I like
Alias. I want to be pretty and kill people.

Hey, I thought it was funny, although Mom probably won't.

Fun With Guns

Went out shooting with a bunch of the guys in the family today. Dad, 2 uncles, both brothers, my cousin, a friend of his and a guy from church plus his 2 oldest boys went out in the country and we had a lot of fun.

I'd only shot a gun about 4 times before - a shotgun twice growing up, Dad's .22 Smith & Wesson when he first got it years ago and my sister-in-law's .38 Special about 4 years ago. The boys had dibs on the guns growing up so I played with knives. Used to be able to throw pretty well, but I haven't done that for quite a while. Anyway, back to the good stuff...

Started out with my cousin's shotgun. It was a pump-action and held 8-9 shells. That was a blast - literally. Moved on to Dad's .22 - that was sweet and I really liked how it handled. Tried my brother's
Colt M1991A1 .45 which was really cool. Unfortunately with carpal tunnel in both wrists I'm going to have to go with something a little smaller when I do get the money for one of my own. Then... :D ... I got to play with his Mini-14 rifle. Now that was fun. I spent most of the time with that. It had a scope, which was different but I really liked it a lot. I even managed to defeat my nemesis - the shampoo bottle set out in the field. I won't say how many shots it took to bring the sucker down.

The fella from church had brought several guns, including an
AR-15 and an AK-47. Didn't try either of those but several of the guys did and thought they were great. My brother wants to trade his Mini-14 in on an AR-15.

Think I shot more than any of the guys did. Yee-haw!

Heh He...

The Little Mother and I were in Sam's Club the other day getting mondo food for the Christmas dinners. We got up to the checkout and this guy that has to be older than Dad almost ran into my cart. He started talking to me and I was just being polite and conversating. He said there was a go-cart for sale somewhere in the back and then asked if I had kids. I said no and he said that it would have been a good gift for kids and only $1,800. I said if I had that kind of money laying around I certainly wouldn't be buying a go-cart. *cough*Harley*cough* He asked what I would buy. "My dream gun" I replied. "Oh. (pause - his smile kinda freezes) What's your dream gun?" "A Desert Eagle .44 or .50" "Oh..." Me - "Bye"

Sometimes I love being a little off... ;D

A Marine's View of Iraq

A recently returned Marine's notes on the soldiers' favorite weapons, ammo, etc. It's a little long but it is definately worth reading through to the end.

The blog it was found on - Mostly Cajun - belongs to a man whose house was wiped out in Hurrcaine Rita. Good reading.

I heart guns & knives

My friend Pookie was doodling in one of his classes and produced this sketch of me. The shirt says "I *heart* *guns* & knives", which I do. Heh heh.

The reason the fork is there, in the ground between the swords, is because I have this thing about not being touched. Especially without warning. One night at work, Pookie & Bridget were discussing how I should change my hair. I was leaning on the kitchen counter, eating, and Pookie suddenly leaned toward me and touched my hair. Without even realizing it, I rather quickly rotated the fork in my hand into a, um... stabbing position, I guess you might call it. Don't think I'm gonna live that one down anytime soon.

The swirly stuff on the leg of the pants is thanks to a former client at work. She wanted to do something, I can't even remember what, that she wasn't supposed to be doing. Anyway, she cussed at me and told me my embroidered jeans were stupid. I kinda laughed at her and made her even more mad. Ah well. Those jeans have been my "stupid pants" ever since. Posted by Picasa
