That quiet, fizzy sound you hear is my brain cells dying off en masse in horror.

I just realized what my schedule is going to be for the next rest of the year. I'm going back to school full time, taking Microbiology Lab & Lecture, Chemistry Lab & Lecture & online Medical Terminology. I'm also working every single night for the next month, moving in about 3 weeks, right before the family reunion that I'm planning & have to do a lot of prep cooking for. I'm the coordinator for the makeup department for our church's Judgement House production, so I get to learn about theatrical makeup, which is going to be a lot of fun. The Judgement House productions will be Thursday thru Saturday nights the last weekend of October & the first weekend of November. They will go from about 4 or 4:30 in the afternoon until everyone is done, anywhere from 9pm until possibly 11:30pm. And today, after doing the weekly PowerPoint announcements for church, I got a newsletter from the planning committee for the next women's retreat at church. The planning commitee I am also a member of. Thankfully the retreat isn't until the spring. I also help in the parental units' kindergarten Sunday school class.

I need a nap. A very, very long nap.

Back To The Accent

I've been stuck in a British accent again. I blame all the movies I've been watching. Absolutely everything has been either (that's pronounced I-ther, of course...) British or set in England.

The Importance of Being Earnest... Mansfield Park... An Ideal Husband... the new Pride & Prejudice... the 6-hour A&E Pride & Prejudice... and of course, Doctor Who...

And with Colin Firth being in several of those movies, I now have a touch of a thing for him, especially as Mr. Darcy. *sigh*

It also doesn't help that I've been researching clothing from the 1870's, especially '74-'76, in hopes of getting into doing a little re-enacting at Old Cowtown Museum. Ready-made corsets are not cheap & the thought of making one is a little daunting, but a friend has connections & he can hook me up with some people who have experience in making them. Oh, did you know that it is nigh impossible to find Battenburg lace fabric or trim? If my dress plan is (eventually) approved by the museum, I'll likely have to buy several tablecloths &/or curtains & alter them for the skirt & trim. Just call me Scarlett... ;-P

Hobbits

The Mothership, Peanut, Belle, her hobbits & I all went down yonder to Wichita a while ago to celebrate a cousin's birthday. As you can see below, Little Man & Bobo conked out on the way down.
Sugar Plum wasn't so inclined, especially after seeing Auntie Peanut's new phone. Oooo, new toy!Poor Bobo wasn't feeling well, so he & Belle were in the van trying to avoid, ummm... spewage... while we were at the restaurant. Little Man missed Mommy, of course, (it was the end of the world, dontcha know) so he had to go join them in seclusion. Not much fun for poor Belle, but Sugar Plum did discover a new favourite food.
I'm not that into lemons as a snack, but hey, they apparently float her boat.

1, 2, 3... STOP!

I'm driving myself insane with counting. I find myself counting steps as I do rounds at work, walking around stores, to & from the mailbox, everywhere. This morning after taking the kids to school I kept catching myself around 20 or 30, would stop then start again at 31, stop myself around 35-40 & then do it all over again. It wasn't a problem on the way to school as I was trying to keep a hand on nine loud, boisterous boys I don't know. Just the walk back to the cottage. Gah!

And I don't even like numbers. Hmph!

The New Babies

There have been two new additions to the family. Meet 2-month-old siblings Wash (boy) & Zoe (girl). (Cain't tell that I'm a Firefly fan at all, can ya'?) Adopted from the local Human Society.

Zoe is the larger of the two, but you can always tell when she's on the losing end of a wrestling match. Lots of angry yet pitiful mews. Wash is the little cuddler but both like to sleep with me.

Sydney forgave me from bringing them into her house partway thru the first week, but is still getting used to them. She hisses more at Zoe than at Wash - wonder if it's a female thing?

Sooo... Hungry...

My stomach is driving me nuts.

I get hungry every 4-6 hours. And I mean must-eat-NOW-or-I'll-get-sick hungry. Very annoying. I used to eat once or twice a day - when I got to work & when I left, or sometimes just once in the middle of my shift - and be perfectly fine. One Saturday I woke in the evening, very shaky & light-headed & feeling sick. I had to think back & realized I hadn't eaten since Friday morning - a day & a half. Oops.

Half the time, I don't feel it's worth the effort to actually fix something, so I don't. Then I'll forget until I feel sick & have to scrounge something up. Stoopid stomach... I just realized this getting really hungry thing has started since I was sick. Hmph.

Anyway, I'm off to rummage around in the kitchen.

Oooh... leftover garlic bread, chicken & a bit of goulash. A somewhat odd mix, but hey, I'm hungry. :-D

Update: The chicken is dry. :'-(

This Doctor is the Cause of my Addiction

I am now hooked on the new version of Doctor Who. I was watching Jay's hobbits &, while waiting for The Munsters to come on, we ran across an episode on Sci-Fi. It was "Love & Monsters" with this funky green guy that kinda looked like Fat You-Know-Who from Austin Powers. He absorbed people into himself & then their faces showed up in his skin. Quite, ummm... yucky. I got a kick out of how one chick's red glasses showed up normally on her now green face after she was absorbed. She was, unfortunately, named Ursula & sounded like Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies.

The show is pretty cheesy, in fact it's down-right smothered with cheese, but I still like it. I have the first two seasons at the top of my Netflix queue. Charles (a co-worker) & I watched the first disc of season 1 yesterday morning & he said it isn't as cheesy as the old version, which he watched growing up.

I've tried getting Dad to watch some Sci-Fi with me, mainly Firefly & Serenity, but he once told me he didn't get "that Hi-Fi stuff." :-D

I did a room check last night & was upstairs when I heard Half-Pint, who is downstairs, say "Watch... watch... watch... WATCH THIS!" I continued the check & heard two of the other girls laughing about it.

I've also heard her whine "But I was gonna eat that, Erin!" followed by "It's not fair!" and a huge sigh. Another staff saw her sit bolt upright & hold out 4 fingers while exclaiming "Guess what, (room mate)! My birthday is in FOUR MONTHS!" before flopping back down.

This is the same girl who fell asleep on the toilet several months ago. *snicker*

They Can't Do This To Me!

Givenchy has discontinued my favourite perfume, Organza Indecence. The cost has skyrocketed. I got a bottle a couple years ago from eBay for about $35. The retail price then was 70 to 80-some dollars. Now a bottle the same size costs anywhere from $120 to (brace yourselves) $200!

I rarely find a perfume I like as much as I do this one. And the bottle - Oo-la-la!

It bothers The Mothership's sinuses so I try not to wear it when I'll be in a vehicle with her. I just don't know what I'm going to wear when my supply runs out. *sob*

Eeeevil Children of the Night...

We have a client (P) who is downright mean & e-e-evil. I had to hold another client back from going after her after P mocked her for being given up by her biological mother 2 days after she was born. Several days ago, she & another girl ripped up the little half-pint client's favourite stuffed animal. She just doesn't care about anyone else at all.

Part of the problem is the parents. Girl goes on home passes, the parents don't keep an eye on her or enforce any rules & then freak out when she doesn't show up in time for her curfew. The last two home passes she's been on, she's stayed out all night & come back high on "skittles", or over-the-counter drugs, probably decongestants. And yet, someone - workers or the therapist, somebody - keeps approving for this girl to go on home passes. Are they missing their brains or what? Way to improve this chick's life & future, people...
